One Month Alcohol Free!

An alert just popped up on my phone to remind me that it’s been ONE MONTH of no alcohol!!!  That’s such a huge accomplishment for me! woohoo!!!

First, I gave up diet coke, which I haven’t touched since (at the end of this month will be 6 months diet coke free!!!), and now I have quit drinking for a whole month!!!

I’m just kicking my goals butt’s left and right over here 😉 Watch out!

Some of you may think that giving up drinking for a month is easy, but it’s not easy around my group of friends and even family.  Alcohol is everywhere, always!  This is sad to admit, but the last time I went a month without drinking was probably BEFORE I ever started drinking alcohol.  There may have been a week or two here and there that I didn’t drink, but NEVER have I gone a whole month.

I’m.proud.of.myself.

By giving up alcohol lately, I feel so much better.  I wake up on the weekends feeling well rested and ready to take on the day.  Instead of laying in bed all weekend with a stupid hangover, I’ve been able to get work done around the house, get my workouts in and avoid as many cheat meals as I normally would have when drinking.  Drinking on the weekends always led to poor food choices late at night and the next day.  I usually wouldn’t think twice about grabbing a burrito or pizza at 3am after the bars closed!

My body is happy with me 🙂

What is the longest you’ve gone without drinking any alcohol?

  1. My friend gave up alcohol for a month and only lasted 6 days.

I don’t know if I could give it up that long, but having a weekend with maybe one glass or two to relax with is definitely refreshing.

Now that my new office doesn’t give me free reign on the soda machine, I’ve done extremely well being soda-free. I was only drinking maybe one or two a week before, but still. I feel good about it. 🙂

  2. Congrats!

I haven’t had any alcohol since August 3rd, which is the day before we got home from vacation. We were inthe Bahamas for 8 days, and we’d start drinking as soon as we got off the boat each day.. I told myself when we got back from vacay I was going to quit drinking for a while. I have goals I want to meet, and drinking isn’t going to help accomplish them. I do have 2 big bottles of rum under the counter that taunt me every time I open the cabinet! — I also gave up Dr. Pepper about 2 months ago. I had 3 sips of diet dr pepper the day we left for the bahamas and it was terrible. I felt bad almost immediately.

I’m not sure how long i’ll give up alcohol, but for now it’s going good.
