My First Bikini Competition – Part 2

If you missed Part 1, you can see the beginning of my competition story HERE.

I woke up before 7 on Saturday morning ready to rock and roll!! My hair and makeup appointment was bright and early at 7:15. I ran downstairs to the hotel lobby before my appointment to grab my boyfriend a surprise breakfast in bed. I loaded up a plate of bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and muffins. It was HARD to stare at all that food the morning of my show and know that I couldn’t have it. It was okay though because I knew I could have a cheat meal that night ๐Ÿ™‚

I was heading upstairs in the elevator and another competitor girl was riding up with me and asked “are you in the show today?” I said yes and she asked me “Are you really going to eat all that before the show!?!??” haha. What if I would have told her that was the secret you’re supposed to do to get REALLY lean before a show. Haha..that seems like something that would have happened in the movie Mean Girls or something. I was nice though..and told her it was for my boyfriend ๐Ÿ˜‰

I headed to my hair and makeup appointment after stuffing down some dry chicken and sweet potato at 7am. I tried to limit my water to just sipping when I really needed it. No water plus dry chicken is not a good combination!

My makeup was very dramatic. It has to be dark with huge eyelashes in order for it to look good on stage. She did my eyes in a sparkly silver and black. I LOVED it. It was also my first time wearing fake eyelashes and they were weird at first but eventually I learned to love how they looked!

For Fitness America, you have two rounds. There is a sportswear/themewear round as well as a bikini round. First up was the themewear. This is where you get to wear a fun costume! You can pick anything. I guess it used to be more sports related costumes, but it has turned into anything and everything. It’s like Halloween and I love dressing up for Halloween!

I am a Chicago girl at heart so I decided to dress as a Chicago Bulls Luv-A-Bull cheerleader/dancer! I made the costume myself. I bought a sports bra online and cut up the back to make it show more of my back and turned it into a halter top.

I added the Bulls letters and swarovski diamonds to bling it out so it would sparkle on stage. The bottoms I got were a black scrunch butt that I also blinged out and put a chicago bulls patch on the back to tie it to my theme. I finished the costume off with two huge red metallic pom-poms!

Now….onto more creepy Myspace mirror shots…

And…a classic bathroom shot. You didn’t think I’d forget one of those..did ya?

Here I am backstage before I went out on stage for the first time.

And….it was soon go-time!

The lady came in and announced our 15 minute warning and all the 14 of us girls in the bikini tall class headed out to the hallway to line up in order.

When it was my turn, I had to get out on stage and do a “T” walk. This is when you go to the back of the stage, pose, then walk to center stage, do front and back poses, then walk to each side of the stage doing front and back poses on each side before walking off.

Since I had pom-poms as my prop, I had to incorporate them into my walk and poses. It was pretty hard to remember all my poses and when to use my props. I was actually planning on doing one extra thing with my poms but when the time came, I was too nervous and forgot. It’s okay though because no one knew what my plan was!

As I walked out on stage, I felt fine. I just had a huge smile on my face and did my first poses at the back of the stage. It wasn’t until I was on the side stage doing my poses that I noticed my legs were shaking SOOOO bad. It was already hard enough to stand in 5″ heels. Adding shaky legs to the mix made it way harder.

I actually wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be. Don’t get my wrong, I was SUPER nervous still but I thought I’d somehow be worse than what I was. My mouth was super dry and one of my sweet Savage sisters gave me a mint right before we walked on stage which totally helped with my dry mouth issue. What a life saver!!!!

I was somehow able to keep a smile on my face and not fall over or look too wobbly.

My boyfriend said you could see my legs shaking a bit in the crowd..but that was normal for almost everyone.

After we finished our individual walks, it was time to come back out as a group and do our comparisons. They asked us to do front and back poses so they could compare each of us to each other.

There I am on the left! The three girls next to me were all Savage girls too ๐Ÿ™‚

After the comparisons were done, we headed off stage and we had a long break until the evening show. In this specific competition, we did our themewear in the morning show and would do our bikini in the evening show. I liked how it was divided up like that.

I was SO relieved that I made it through the first half of the show without completely messing anything up. I didn’t feel very natural up there, however I did feel really prepared. I knew exactly what was going on and what I was supposed to do. There were several girls back stage who had no idea what a “T-walk” even was! Thank goodness my coach and team helped with that way in advance.

Overall, I thought I did okay. I was intimidated by the other girls in my class though. They had some seriously amazing bodies and were so beautiful and sweet.

We went back to our hotel and relaxed before heading back for the evening show.

I tried to nap in between shows but definitely couldn’t. I had too much adrenaline, excitement and nerves running through my body.

Instead…I ate some more dry chicken and asparagus and started getting ready for the bikini round.

To be continued… (Update: Here is part 3)
