Playground Workout

Last week I was in Florida for my Grandpa’s 80th surprise birthday party.  I woke up early on the morning of the party and my boyfriend and I wanted to get a workout in.  We didn’t have access to a gym, but that’s okay because we made up our own killer workout using the path around the lake and a simple playground!

We started by running a lap around the lake which was about less than a half mile.

My cousin lives in a beautiful little area.  I would NOT mind living somewhere like this!  It had a path all the way around the lake which was perfect for some cardio.

After each lap, we stopped at the playground and did one strength training exercise.

You can basically use anything to do push-ups against.  This worked my chest and a little bit of shoulders since it was at an incline.  I did 3 sets of 15.

Then, we ran another lap and did some jump squats onto a ledge of the playground.  Squat down, and explode up to land on top of the ledge.  This worked my legs.  I did 3 sets of 10.

Another lap around the lake followed by some tricep dips!  You can do tricep dips almost anywhere.  Just find a ledge, stick out your legs and dip 🙂  3 sets of 12.

Jogged another lap followed by another lower body exercise.  I tried to switch it between upper body and lower body after each lap.

This time it was one legged lunges.  Just prop one foot up on a ledge and squat.  Switch legs and repeat.  I did 3 sets of 12 on each leg.

The next exercise was a bit tricky but I found a way to do some core work.  I was going to do planks but this was just a little more fun!  I hung on the bars by my feet like a little pink monkey and did some sit-ups!  Gotta get creative sometimes!

I think I did about 3 sets of 10 on the core exercise.  Those were pretty tough and the bar wasn’t too comfortable, but it did it’s job!

We finished our workout with the remaining lap around the lake.

We jogged 2 miles and it took about 45 minutes (I stopped the clock when we were doing strength training a few times).

This just proves that you can workout ANYWHERE, just be creative!  I got a full body workout and cardio in on vacation with no access to a gym!
